It blew a hoolie last night and it was still going this morning! Anyway I'm holiday so lets get on with it.
Port Isaac is one of those places tourists visit specifically as it is the place Doc Martin is filmed and it's the home of Fisherman's Friends but it still has managed to keep its character. Tourists must have been turned off by the weather as we managed to get into the lower car park!
So lets get undercover and have a coffee.
Doc Martins house
We're mad
We had another coffee and headed off. Jan suggested a cafe in Wadebridge but I wondered if we should try for Rick Stein's fish and chips in Padstow.... Padstow was busy but nothing like it was last September.
Padstow still lacks the charm it once had but I guess the money and jobs it has created is compensation.
There was a queue so we moved on and got really lucky as the Mussel Box had a spare table !
We stopped for a coffee and again got lucky as a table was free as we left they queueing !
A good day despite the weather

Looks cold and wet! I do like Port Isaac - last time we were there family found a pasty shop which they reckoned sold the best pasties ever! Something about Padstow I am not keen on - perhaps the crowds?? Although we did once go on a lovely boat trip from there to see puffins and seabirds :) Hope weather is better for you tomorrow - this week has been dire here :( ps enjoyed Cotehele yesterday too :)
Padstow has lost its charm. I first went in 1982 and it had a lovely windy bookshop and an old cinema all gone. St Mawes is lovely on the other hand
