the local wildlife

I am still putting in the miles and looking out for local wildlife. You often getting a nice sighting.

The local ducklings are mostly  all grown up. I can only spot the 7 at New Hall as they are often together.

There are still 5 Moorhen chicks at the Coalport pond and I have found another 2 ducklings at the Newhall Pond they are obviously ducklings but not just hatched!

There was a moorhen thrashing about on the bank at a weird angle at New Hall one day . I realised the poor chap had his foot caught by a line. I managed to cut the line and it swam off. Not sure what it was, it can't have been fishing line as it cut easily with my key.

Lots of Gatekeepers about

And we are getting some peacocks finallyy.

The geese have flown from New Hall  and these were on the common pond!

Oh come on! that post!!

I was walking around the estate and look what I found a Jersey Tiger Moth

The next day I wandered to the Netteswell Pond which I haven't been to for ages and saw another!

The BTO's garden birdwatch are reporting high numbers of Red Admirals this year. Certainly I have started seeing a lot more in the past 2 weeks.

I am going to have to look at the far end of the common as I found this chap today.  Is he a new one or one I thought had been moved? We all know what I am doing tomorrow!

I know I need to visit the local reserves but I do enjoy finding local wildlife.

Anglesey Abbey

I haven't been to many places whilst at home recently. Annoyingly now I am able to its the school holidays and places never to get busy and a bit noisy ;)

Still I went to Anglesey yesterday and I was rather lucky on the weather front!

The obligatory scone

I do like this part of the garden. The fact that it had a few butterflies was a nice touch!

Hang on marigolds? is this a first??

I found a spot away from the crowds and enjoyed that lovely coloured sky :)
