Wrest Park

I had lunch with my cousin Carol and her husband Glen.... I am not good about keeping in touch with people! Bit of a loner blah de blah.... but it was really nice to have a chat and catch up... something I need to get better at.

They live in Bedfordshire close to Wrest Park so I slipped a camera in my pocket donned my waterproof (it was a bit wet at times) and went for a stroll....

Anyway dinner was lovely.... thanks guys!

Lavenham & Melford Hall and live music

I had a wander into Suffolk yesterday and headed to Lavenham

The Guildhall

The Little Hall

So into the guildhall, I'm sure you've seen it enough

I love these old magazines

And these posters are really cool.

And I love these old guidebooks

Apple and Blackberry

So anyway onto Melford Hall

My Saturday evening was spent at Saffron Hall the concert was...

London Philharmonic Orchestra with conductor Vladimir Jurowski and Violinist Julia Fischer

Programme
Oliver Knussen  - Scriabin Settings, these are piano pieces by Scriabin that Knussen orchestrated.
Benjamin Britten - Violin Concerto
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - Symphony No 6 'Pathetique"

The Knussen/Scriabin was a nice but not a particularly memorable. The Britten is not really my thing but the ending was mesmerising. The Tchaikovsky how was REALLY my thing and the end of the third movement it was hard not to applaud it carried on in to a fine fourth movement. Hearing a world class orchestra live is something else.

A really good start to the 2019/20 season!
