Ickworth

Firstly Happy Christmas!

I had a quiet day and much to a friends disgust I had a curry :)

Facebook memories reminded me that a tradition was to go to Ickworth on Boxing day and as the sun was promising to shine off I went.

I noticed that there seems to be a new canine code where dogs are to be on leads the whole time. It was nice to see that only 1 person ignored it.

Ickworth has become very reliable for scones. Today was no exception

Lots of misletoe!

A lovely walk.

St Mary the Virgin Frinton

I was having lunch with my friends Jan and Tony in Frinton and as I was a little early I popped into the small  church.

Until the Victorians arrived Frinton was a church, several farms and a handful of cottages.

The nave is probably 14th century and is only 25 feet long! The small chancel was added by the Victorians (there was a medieval one that blew down in 1703). Including four panels of Morris glass designed by Burne-Jones c1862 in the East Window..

The Victorians built a bigger church but it is St Mary's that has the charm!

Frinton is a conservative place it has only recent acquired a pub!

That East window.

Still living in a winter wonderland

I don't remember the last time the snow stayed around for so long! We are just starting to see a minor thaw but it should have all gone Monday.

The paths are like glass so I haven't none much walking. So I guess there goes my stretch target unless I go mad!

My boiler has been temperamental and I got a bit lucky I guess and got a cancellation and so the new  one arrives Monday! The old one was 28 years old so I guess I can't complain.

Anyway some pics. The poor ponies!

3 local mallards reappeared today... the thaw is coming!
