Amwell

Now I always wake early but I set the alarm regardless. This morning it woke me at 7 and I immediately went back to sleep!! I awoke at 7:40 which for me is REALLY late :)

The forecast wasn't good from lunchtime so I stayed local.

For a change  went to Amwell but it was quiet....  a few Goldeneye but no other winter visitors. One of the regulars said this might be the few year we get no Smew.

The feeding station was quiet as well!

A wander around was pleasant but bird light no joy on the redpoll BUT i did find a number of Siskin and two Red Kite.

A few rain drops fell so I wandered off to do the washing and guess what the promised rain didn't happen!

Still a nice wander!

Audley End

Another dull, cold day.

I decided to stay local and went for a wander around Audley End,

Lots of Canada Geese on the pond

You know its winter when there are lots of Tufted Duck

These mutes were picking at the vegetation,

I went for lunch and eschewed my normal scone for a hot and nice Carrot and Parsnip Soup.

Signs of spring!

Cambridge University Botanic Garden

I decided I needed a day out of the office so I was off today. Of course I was checking emails but that's me ;)

I went to the Cambridge University Botanic Garden but the weather was dull and grey.

I parked at the Trumpington Park and ride and WALKED the 1.7 miles to the garden.

I had my lunch at the cafe.... I was the only one eating outside :)

And I walked back to the park and ride (park and walk?). After that I got my haircut and took some stuff down the dump.

A nice relaxing day.
