End of the month round up

Here are a few pictures from my recent walks. I have seen 40 species of birds this year on my walks from home. A few noticeable misses, no Song Thrush or Redwing I've seen both elsewhere obviously. The highlight was today when I heard some birds and thought hang on they're Siskins aren't they? I couldn't see them for ages and then YES! So that is bird 78 on my walks in total.

My walking target for the year is 2000 miles which works out at 5.48 per day. I should have reached 169.88 miles and I have reached 187.01 miles! So I am 17.13 miles ahead!

Oddly it took ages to see Greylags but there have 2 on the Netteswell pond for a while.

Lavenham Guildhall

I had a wander to Lavenham today. I had a wander around the Guildhall it seems to be ages since I have been inside. I assume pre pandemic. It was built in 1529 by one of four wool guilds. After the decline of the wool trust it became a bridewell (prison) and a workhouse. Today Lavenham is a picturesque and seemingly prosperous large village but the NT as an exhibition of photos showing the poor state of repair after the war. There is also an exhibition on the railway in Lavenham pre-Beeching.

It was a bit of a surprise to find a new second-hand bookshop!

I did wander to Clare Country Park for lunch and a wander but didn't take any photos. EEK

Chippenham Park

I wandered to Chippenham Park today. The garden isn't open that often but is for Snowdrops and Daffodils. It is a bit early but as the forecast was promising ...

Chippenham only accepts cash so I had to visit the cash machine first ;)

I arrived and got a coffee!

After lunch and a coffee I went for a further wander.

I will wander back later in the season.
