Dragons again

Well went to Wicken Fen today to meet some folk from the Wildabout Britain Forum to watch Dragonflies.

The meet was at 9:30 but I got there early and went to look for birds. Highlights being a dozen Little Egrets, Common Sandpiper, Green Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker and lots of Warblers.

Anway 11 of us met up and off we went lots of Dragons and Damsels about.

Damsels - Common Blue, Variable, Azure, Blue Tailed, Red Eyed, Emerald.
Dragons - Hairy, Southern Hawker, Brown Hawker, Four Spotted Chaser, Black Tailed Skipper, Emperor, Ruddy Darter, Common Darter.

Also loads of Butterflies about - sorry didn't make a list. I can remember Speckled Wood, Brimstone, Red Admiral, Small Tortoiseshell, Large White and a few Skippers

We also had a nice Hobby and a Bullfinch.

Very relaxing and enjoyable day.

Hey - Are dragonflies the new birds? I'm still trying to sort out warblers - i love 'em, but they are a bugger to identify.

Well it helps enliven the summer months.

Warblers? Helps if they are Singing Willow Warbler/Chiffchaff and if you can see them Garden Warbler/Blackcap
