I wandered to Lower Slaughter after breakfast.
There were plenty of trout in the river.
I wandered off to Snowshill the former home of that British Eccentric Charles Paget Wade. I have been in the house many times and as house tickets were limited I didn't book one. There were only 6 rooms open.
So first stop? Coffee and a scone! Pretty good
Wade lived in an out building whilst the house contained his collection. He was bonkers.
The model village is much restored over the years
A cheese scone!
So off to Chastleton! And a move of NT region from the South West to the South East all in 20 minutes LOL. For those who don't know Chastleton known as the MIGHTY CHASTLETON won a twitter tournament to be proclaimed the sexiest historic house. All of this is due to its fabulous social media presence. The may have been closed since 2019 but the team kept us greatly entertained and informed during the pandemic and are what social media should be (not stuffy). Hey guys if you read this you may not have got that pay rise but use this as customer feedback in your appraisal LOL.
To be honest the staff on the day were all very chirpy from the young lady on the desk, the chap who directed me at the gate and the lady who took my details
What do you mean do not touch? I would love to read these!!!
Alas much of the house is still closed. Chastleton is perhaps the most unmodified property of its age. No great treasures but buckets loads of charm and authenticity
Church and Manor house, how English
