The final outing of the year

Well I had intended the last one to by my last post but as the weather has turned damp I returned early from the Birding.

First trip to Amwell quarry for a while. Highlights Water Rail, Smew (2 drakes), Goldeneye and Amwel patch tick Marsh Tit ( I was so busy watching it I missed the fly through Goldeneye that would have been an Amwell tick!!).

Only there an hour and a half and saw.

Have you ever been to Abbotsbury Swannery, Pete? We were there last summer and what a wonderful place it was! We'll definitely be going back when we have time to spend a whole afternoon there (sadly, we didn't realise just how wonderful it was going to be and had too little time there) with a packed lunch.ww

oh yes the Swannery is a lovely experience. went two years ago. will ago again one day.

the sub-tropical gardens are nice as well. Even if the sandwiches are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive
