I set off on the South West path.... it didn't help that some idiot forgot his walking shoes and only had trainers!
My first view of ...
900 St Bueno, Culbone.
It is one you have to walk to. The church is probably pre-conquest and very unspoilt. It still has regular services and is well loved.
It hasn't been messed about with and you can imagine someone visiting it from a millenia ago.
The path was a bit battered in places
I got back to Porlock Weir and I think I had earned my pint of Otter!
Crab sandwich at a cafe,
My hotel.
Thus was outside the neighbouring pub.
My legs know I have walked. The weather turns tomorrow, I am having a quiet day.

What a lovely walk and church - very beautiful in its simplicity. Hotel looks good and in a great location. I do like morris dancers - seen several in Herefordshire and just over the border. Hope the weather is better than forecast. Sorry about the walking boots :(
It was a "fun" walk lol
The church reminds me of some you see on the Sussex downs.
The weather held up today but it is changing!!
Fingers crossed you get some dry days!
You're in my part of the world I see. We love Porlock, and the hotel there is a regular place. But you've beaten me to Culbone church. I've been close to it so many times but never actually made it there. Did you know the British actor John Gregson died suddenly walking to the church on that path. Great part of the world.
Well worth a visit. Reminds me of Sussex downland churches. I can believe about John gregson. It's a bit steep and the path is a bit washed away in place. The hotel is very nice! :) I've sat in the sun with a pint when I could
