Barrington Court, East Lambrook Manor Gardens, Muchelney Abbey

It may seem that today was a packed day but it was quite leisurely really.

First stop Barrington Court (the house is still closed due to storm damage) but I was after a stroll around the garden.

Barrington is a tudor manor house restored in the 1920's but it is noted for its gardens.

I rotten to Ragged Robin keep posting these :)

I could have sat in the garden and read but there was a garden I had never visited just down the road...

East Lambrook Manor Gardens was created by plantswoman Margery Fish and is a Cottage Garden

And just down the road from that is Muchelney Abbey.

If you look closely you can see the Abbey church next to the parish church.

Here is the parish church.

Most of the abbey has gone but some buildings remain including the 16th century abbots house

This is the thatched latrine.

Here I am standing at the far west end of the abbey and the church would have dwarfed the parish church.

St Peter and St Paul's, Muchelney. The church was built in 1308 but is largely 15th century. Its existence explains why the abbey church disappeared.

This is Muchelney's treasure. It was painted in the early 17th century.
