I saw a couple of brand new ducklings at the New Hall Pond on Friday or Saturday. I was surprised there were only 2 and as I hadn't seem them since I expected them to have vanished. I was VERY pleasantly surprised to see them today.
They are still quite young but they look spritely so fingers crossed.
The Goslings are getting there adult plumage. Canada Geese parents are very protective
There are a few moorhen chicks at various ages.
The coots are growing. I am not sure just how many there are! I think 3.
The split pond is a bit of a washout other than mum taking the ducklings there occasionally. It gets fished. The Coalport pond doesn't and I am pleased to say we Moorhen chicks. Its odd I would pay no attention to them in the days I was a "serious" birder but now I am so pleased.
All 11 ducklings are still there and as you can see they have grown.
Butterfly wise it is very very disappointing I did see a Red Admiral and a Painted Lady the other day.
Oh and we need some rain!! Boy do we need some rain
