Upton House

I went to Upton House today the former home of Lord and Lady Bearsted.

Apparently the upstairs still isn't open so I passed on visiting. I'll be back here twice more and in October the weather may drive me indoors. So off round the gardens. It was again butterfly light:( There were a few dragonflies over the lake and that might explain the appearance of a hobby briefly.

There was a mallard family and some freshly hatched cootlets. The coots have done well as there were teenagers. There were at least 3 Little Grebe and I think there were young in the reeds but I could be mistaken..

um I have to climb back up those!

The sun was out in force so I wandered down to the lake upping my step count and then eventually someone moved off a seat ;) and sat and finished my book and started the next!

A quiet day but relaxing!

I love the garden there - the first time you visit you get such a surprise when you get to the end of the main lawn :)
