Clacton Martello Towers

I'm up to see my friends Jan and Tony. Tony is doing well after his op.

We went to Clacton and walked between the two Martello towers.

Martello Towers are small coastal faults usually found on the coast in Southern England. In Britain they were built in the early 1800s as a defence against Napoleon. The design was inspired by towers built in Corsica. Although I say "usually found" in Southern England they were built all around the world and there are some built on the East Coast of the US built by the American government.
