Barking

I went out for a wander lunch time.

Job Drain was a resident of Barking who at 18 was awarded the Victoria Cross in August 1914.

St Margaret's church in Barking is one of Simon Jenkins 1000 best churches. It stands in the ruins of the former Royal Abbey. The church originated as a chapel for local people and James Cook (the explorer) was married here. I have to say on a weekday it is normally open which is good to see.

I wandered back to the office and bought a coffee en route!

The church looks very interesting - so good that it is open. Many round here are not! :(
