Heritage Open Days Saved

Given i've said some negative things about English Heritage recently (they didn't come across that well on the recent TV programme I thought.) its nice to report some positive.

The future of the excellent Heritage Open Days scheme was in doubt since the Civic Trust in England announced it had gone into administration.

English Heritage have announced they are taking on the scheme and so the 15th Heritage Open Day will take place as planned over 10th-13th September.

Heritage Open Days is England’s biggest voluntary cultural event. More than 3,500 historic and unusual buildings open their doors to the public for free and put on tours and events during the second weekend in September. 90 per cent of the population live within 30 minutes of a Heritage Open Days event.

The list of events is here, events should start appearing mid-July. I'll be posting more info nearer the time.
