Raveningham

A few weeks ago I saw an advert for a sculpture trail near Holt in Norfolk. There was a reference to it being at Raveningham and my friends Rebecca and Stuart suggested going.

Now we "thought" it was at the Hall but on arrival we found it was at the nearby centre so..... obviously R&S were late LOL so I had a coffee and read to they arrived.

and in we went.......

and this is what we saw

now these are the ones I photographed.......  my reaction?

I walked up to Rebecca and said uh I am totally underwhelmed! This is not what I think of as a sculpture trail. The ones at Borde Hill and Helmingham Hall for instance were fabulous.  I am obviously a philistine Rebecca said that if you told her that most were from a school she wouldn't be surprised. I am really sorry to the artists for my opinion but .....

So on to Raveningham Hall gardens. I had never heard of the place but it was absolutely lovely! Totally unpretentious and a really nice place!

If i am ever in the area I'll revisit the Hall.

I can see what you mean about the sculpture trail but the gardens you visited afterwards are really lovely :)
