St Mary Magdalene, Ickleton

I first visited Ickleton church many many years ago and thought it was time it turned up on the blog.

The church dates to the late  11th or early 12 century and some of the arches contain Roman bricks. The treasure of the church are the 12th century frescos and a 14th century doom. The frescos were rediscovered during a restoration in 1979 after pyromaniacs set fire to the church!

What a super church! Love the doom and fresco and the stained glass is beautiful too. Thanks so much Pete - cracking spire too :)
