A Church and an Opera

I had booked tickets to see Rigoletto at Covent Garden this lunchtime and it coincided with the London Open Houses weekend (I seem to be on holiday whenever this is on normally). A bit of research told me I could tick another church!! So....

814 St Mary Magdalene, Paddington

It is in an area called Little Venice

The church is Victorian as was built by the architect G E Street. Sir Ninian Comper was commissioned to produce a fitting memorial to Fr. West (the first priest), and created the Chapel of St Sepulchre in the south aisle of the crypt.

And off to Covent Garden....

The opera was Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi it was Mr Quacks first

If you want a synopsis of  Rigoletto. Simon Keenlyside as Rigoletto and Aleksandra Kurzak as Gilda were fabulous! They really injected emotion into the performance. Keenlyside was amazing using Rigoletto's crutches....

A good day
