Is this odd?
I was walking betwixt offices when I noticed a snail crawling slowly across the car park, his chances of making it to cover before a car got him were zero. I carefully picked him up and carried over him to cover.
Glad I'm not the only one, thought it was just me who does that sort of stuff. This very morning I noticed a slug in the farm driveway, right in line with where my car wheels would be in a matter of minutes, so I picked him up and put him in the grass!
No and Mad. That very snail has been eating my very young running bean plants for the second year running! OK pick it up, but then throw it as far as you can! "frustrated gardener of Corfe Mullen!"
But you're not alone in your "madness". During the course of my gardening today, several snails and slugs (yuk) have been re-homed (from my plants in pots) to where they might provide a meal for the frogs.
I need about 4min. from my house to the underground station BUT if it is raining in the morning I need about 8min. I need longer, because I 'rescue' all the snails from the walkway. MAD?
I get one extra day of life on Earth each time I pick up a fishing worm stranded on the cement sidewalk and put him in the grass or in the shade where he can cool off and burrow in the ground. I can imagine you would get so much more for your deed.
I would have done that too. I do that at home... save worms, snails, flies, etc. I've even turned round and gone back into the garden to release a greenfly I found sitting on an item I was bringing in.
My old house is a snail and slug haven -- the slugs used to ooze under the kitchen door, especially when it got frosty at night. I put a draught-excluding brush on the kitchen door before the tenants moved in... the slugs will have been very cross, but they probably got in anyway. I hope the tenants aren't poisoning them.

I'd have done the same, when I find them in the garden misbehaving I lob them over the fence - I'm sure they just come back!
Yes you should have. Yes you're mad! Keep up the good work.
You did a good thing. :-)

Yes, ODD and MAD.
Most people throw them over the nearest fence. Unless your in france and they become tea ;-D
Hurray for Pete! I would have done the same to save the snail. I stop my car for turtles and carry them to safety. You're not mad at all.

Guess that makes me mad too.
