Some snapping practice.
Ok well there you have my first photo. Its the start of the boardwalk leading to the lake at Hatfield Forest. From the above today I saw Great Spotted Woodpecker, Treecreeper and Nuthatch and some other chaps.
To the right you can see a common woodland bird. Uh ok so this is not what you would expect to see in a forest now is it!
Its funny but there is often a pair by the boardwalk. I presume that they have just got
used to being fed!
The boardwalk got me a year tick to day! My first Chiffchaff.
You would have expected this chap to be sitting on here really wouldn't you?
This is the Hatfield Forest Lake. In winter it can host reasonable number of ducks including Pochard - none now - and sometimes Goosander. At the moment the highlight is the Great Crested Grebe two of whom definitely have a nest !! Hopefully we may get Tern breeding!
Very pleasant stroll, sping had defintely arrived, with the song of Chiffchaff joining lots of Blue Tits, Nuthatch, Treecreeper and headbanging woodies.
Anyway a naff pic of a lake star.
Went for a brief walk around Rye Meads. No doubt as to the star birds. A pair of Kingfishers which I had no hope of capturing. But hey
here you go horrid photo but you can
see two Kingfishers!
Nic is starting to get impatient with me. Tut tut what would Boo say!
This chap kindly perched up so I
suppose he deserves to get a feature.
Found on the river.......
Another pair of common birds at Rye Meads
