A Lovely Spring day

Well had a phone call from Jan & Tony will be kipping over Monday night.

Well what a lovely day. As you read I had the folks over last night. I had to top up my Cash ISA so off we went to the Britannia at Sudbury. 5% fixed nice! Anyway had a stroll around Sudbury and off we went to Long Melford parking in the National Trust Hall Car park.

Melford Hall as seen from the road. Its not the grandest house in the care of the National Trust. Long Melford is currently graced with two fine Historic Houses. The other is Kentwell Hall which hosts "recreations" at bank holidays which are good fun. And once had 3.

The town was once very wealthy, actually probably still is as property prices are steep.

Long Melford's treasure though is Holy Trinity Church, viewed from Melford Hall car park entrance with the almshouses in front.

Strolled into the Village spotting Goldfinch, Greenfinch and Goldcrest.

From Long Melford we drove to Clare and parked at Clare Castle Country Park. Eating lunch first.

We went for a stroll along the river, lots of Chaffinches and Tits in the trees spotted a Grey Wagtail fly off.

We stopped off in the ruins of Clare Priory.

Here you can see Mum and Dad sitting in the ruins.

One of the old Abbey Buildings (Refrectory I think) has been restored and is this the Roman Catholic Church.

Walking back to the car park I was surprised to spot this little family group!

Went the other way along the weather. There were Mallards everywhere, one squirrel, Chiffchaffs singing away and this chap sailing serenely down the river.

On the way home we had Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and Red Legged Partridge. Well it was lovely weather and a lovely day.
