Well I didn't wake to wall to wall sunshine but the day was better than the previous one! I bought a 3 day boat pass (reasons will be come apparent) and wandered to Fondamente Nove and got the boat to Burano.
The cemetary.
There are lots of small islands with ruins in the bay
The bridge from Burano to Torcello.
and at Burano hopped on the boat to Torcello,
Torcello is sparsely populated and though it get tourists it is much quieter than the mainland oh and you can hear bird song!
The Basilica, alas no photos
I went for a wander behind the Basilica you can see it is quite wild, so peaceful.
The small chair is alleged to be Atilla the Hun's throne.
So back to Burano, the view of Torcello from the boat. And look at the sky colour!
Burano is famed for its lace making and it is very colourful..
And the tower does lean!
On to Mazzorbo which is not as sparsely populated as Torcello but it is quiet
WHOA ! Black-Necked Grebe! I've seen them in the bay of Venice but not normally so close.
The cemetary again.
back on the main land
My square
Coffee!
