Shugborough and Tutbury & Clifton Campville Churches

I had tried to get into Tutbury Church about 16 years ago without success but today I knew it would be open. Lucky I had be been before as I have seen it's west front which today was under scaffold.

877 St Mary the Virgin, Tutbury

Shugborough Hall is a property I haven't been to in ages... last time I was here it was being run by Staffordshire council on behalf of the National Trust (you had to pay to park regardless of membership) today it is run by the trust and you don't pay to park BUT the lovely rural museum has gone.

It was home to the Anson's who became Earl's of Lichfield. Famously the fifth Earl was the Queen's cousin the photographer Patrick Lichfield and you can visit his old private apartments (i did) but you can't take photos (many of the exhibits are loaned)

The Shepherd's monument which it was claimed if you could solve it would disclose the location of the holy grail. Yeah right.

Honey, Ginger and Sunflower which had good flavour but was dry :(

The servant wing

Some of the exhibits in the house were under wraps as they are renewing the fire alarms.

ooh the sun is out!

and as I had been informed by the church facebook page it was open :)

878 St Andrew, Clifton Compville
