There has been a building at Croft Castle since the 11th Century and the Croft family have lived there since, with an interlude of 140 years between 1783 and 1923. The present building originated as a castle in the 14th century and has been much altered. The National Trust acquired the property in 1957 and Crofts still live at the castle.

There were no Scones! I think this may be due to staff shortages. So I had a nice Leek & Potato soup. The weather was cool (it's October) so not weather for sitting and reading so I headed for another NT Garden...
The Weir Garden was developed by Roger Parr who bought the estate in the 1920's and left it to the National Trust in 1959. The house is now a nursing home.
There are nice views of the Wye
Birds seen today? At Croft - Treecreeper and Raven (2). At The Weir - Kingfisher
