Sizergh Castle

After the heat of yesterday it hammered down as we wandered to breakfast and we drove through torrential rain however as we arrived at Sizergh the sun came out!!

There were a pair of Spotted Flycather's flitting about here.

although the tower dates to the 14th century technically Sizergh is not a castle but a hall and for a while was known as Sizergh Hall - well according to one of the NT room guides. The Strickland family have lived here since 1239 (although they gave it to the trust in 1950) oh and Catherine Parr is alleged to have lived here after Henry VIII died.
