Whilst driving to work a while ago (pre Christmas) started noticing a white rabbit sitting in a field amongst the "normal" rabbits. My initial thought was escape, and, he won't last long.
I don't see him everyday but I've continued to notice him in the field and the latest sighting was last night. Hard to judge his size as he stands out but he seems quite bulky.
I wonder what his chances are? Will he breed?
Well I'll continue to keep an eye out for him.
Also I've started seeing Yellowhammer on my journey to and from work which is nice to see.

Last year, in the first field as we go out of our village, there was a black rabbit amongst the normal ones. We saw it several times. But then no rabbits at all, I often wonder if that survived too. In our local paper last week, there was a report about some people who had hired marksmen with air guns to kill a HUGE rabbit that was eating the plants on their allotments. The RSPCA had got involved and were asking that they set a humane trap. Don't suppose they bothered though, it sounded from the description that it was a tame escapee, just trying to survive. Makes me sick. Kill anything that moves these days that doesn't fit, or doesn't earn any money. Grrrrrrrr.
My dog killed a rabbit today. It got to the bun before I realised what was happening ..... I know it is nature in the raw, but still upsets me to watch !!
I can sympathise its like when one jumps out in front of your car and there is no chance of stopping..... not happened often but very distressing.
Oh Anne, that reminds me of something when we lived in Cornwall. Our Cocker Spaniel got hold of a rabbit that had myxo (can't spell it but I'm sure you know what I mean) It was too sick to escape and was just hiding in the undergrowth. The screaming it made haunts me to this day. Luckily someone near us was used to dealing with things like this and was able to put it out of its misery. Horrible, horrible thing to happen. I've hit and killed two rabbits when driving. Instant death though. Ooh why am I talking about this when I've just got to go and get the tea on. :(
Could it possibly be an albino wild rabbit? If so, it may survive.
I am in the fortunate position of never having managed to kill a rabbit, come close though a few times and was absolutely terrified at the prospect.
The only thing that I have hit when in the car was possibly a bat, not sure though, I was travelling late in the evening (around 10.00pm) when something hit the windscreen, scared me half to death and worried me at the same time.
