And yay the sun shone!

I woke to a glorious morning! The sun shone and it had some warmth! Which when you see the forecast for the next two days you will see why I wanted to get out.

I found another path was walkable but I suspect it won't be after tomorrow LOL

Still no spring migrants alas

Bramble's mum was moved again. Nearer to where she was... Bramble was still with last years foal near Mum. I am puzzled why that one is free to roam. I assume someone freed him.

Just walking

Well the schools are back and my walk was noticeably quieter when I went back into town. Lets hope rates continue to fall.

A few signs of spring...

I have bypassed the pond on the common as it has been too boggy. However I couldn't see the foal (subsequently to be known as Bramble) at first in its normal spot but its Mum  had been moved to near the pond and as Bramble was making friends with one of last years foals I went over to take photos (the bogginess level is now much reduced by the way).

There had been a Heron by the pond but it flew long before I got near.

I wondered if the path beside the M11 was passable and it was! So that will be a nice option for future walks (although given heavy rain Wednesday....)  It has proved a good spot for Warblers but alas no Chiffchaff :(

I wandered through the woods but despite lots of Tits and drumming woodpeckers none of my 3 target birds were seen (Nuthatch, Treecreeper and Chiffchaff).

The New Hall pond had no Little Grebes but the Coots were collecting nesting material and heading to the island.

It's the little things.

Well we all live in hope of a bit freedom coming up and that this vaccine thing lets life get back to normal or at least a degree of normality. I am moderately optimistic.

So will it happen this week will I see a chiffchaff....

So Thursday I am wandering along a little bird flies into a tree bins up uh no but hang on a mo Lesser Redpoll! I have lost count of the number of Goldfinches I have looked through looking for a Siskin and I find a Redpoll! Alas no photo

This Long Tail was taken through branches... it was ever thus

This was near to home. One of the cottages I walk past has them investigating under the eaves.

I have read a lot of old Science Fiction lately (pre 1960). A bit outdated but has a certain spirit.

Hopefully some sun soon ;)

Where does the time go?

Thursday? Really? March? Really ? Don't ask me where the years going. It's not like I'm doing much.

The weather has not been that great this week, just grey and dull. I still wait for the first Chiffchaff and yet there are still plenty of winter Thrushes about.

There have been two highlights this week. One was walking along a path and the only the sound was Skylarks singing!

I'm not sure what breed this is.... tiny little fella. He is a small paddock with larger ponies/horses.

this is my second highlight of the week! This is the first foal on the common this year. It is so friendly and came up and nuzzled my hip bag

The ducks are I guess confused by the works on the pond. Curiously there aren't many on the common pond yet.

The little cutie!
