Grantham House and Belton House

I popped into Grantham this morning to visit Grantham house. It recently came under management of the NT.

St Wulfram, Grantham. The tower and spire is one of the finest in the country. And whereas Jenkins raves about the church I just don't get it. To me its all about the spire.

Grantham House from the churchyard

Sir Isaac Newton who went to school in Grantham

And Mrs T. Taken to wind a few people up on facebook LOL

I was going to go in the church but a lot of school boys in uniform had gone in and there was a service.

The house is not really open. The upstairs will be used for local clubs and the downstairs is a cafe, bookshops and offices, The gardens are pretty and it is a nice place to have drink and read just off of town

Well it rude not to!

And so on to Belton House. On arrival ....

It was used in THAT adaptation of Pride and Prejudice as the abode of Lady Catherine de Bourgh

I was going to go in but the sun was shining and tomorrow promises rain.

St Peter and St Paul, Belton. It can be reached from the garden and is wall to wall monuments to Cockaynes, Custs and Brownlows (the family)

So and this point I had walked 6 miles so I put my feet up in a deckchair with a bottle of water and read!

As I walked back to the car....
