Hyde Hall a garden how run by the Royal Horticultural society..... now I have to display my own biases here. I find these "show gardens" more like art galleries. I like my gardens to be more homely, somewhere I'd like to sit and read a book! Still it is very nice. Is that damning with faint praise?

Gorgeous photos and lovely gardens but I can see your point about preferring something more homely and relaxing rather than a show garden.
