Clare Country Park

I took his nibs out today we headed out in the country to find a bag of spuds and then went on to Clare Country Park.

Clare Priory was dissolved at the time of the reformation. The medieval bit in use now was the Friars infirmary and was used as a barn at one time. When the priory was reestablished  it became a parish church. Some time in the past 10 years a big extension has taken place and somehow it has lost a bit of ambience.

This was once the church..... now just an approach :(

Which do you prefer? Yes I know I know it may be needed but it lacks character.... call me old fashioned.

I would love to see the priory in its prime but it is interesting to see the ruins with the leaves etc.

All that's left of the old castle.

It looks very beautiful and I love the leafy autumn tendrils in the ruins. Agree with you btw not keen on that modern bit of architecture at all :(
