Buscot Park

Buscot Park is one of those National Trust properties that sort of aren't trust properties! What do I mean? It's where the family gives the property to the trust but still live there and "manage it" on the trusts behalf.

There are pros and cons to this approach. Pros? the garden management tends to be a little less conservative, in the case of Buscot you get Lord  Farringdon's very fine art collection. Cons mean  limited opening times. Any big NT property that has limited opening and the hours are 2-6....

It also means they have their own branding (and website) and  the tea room is not NT. The later is a hard one to call  as one of the best tea rooms is The Courts which is not NT but often the tea rooms are a little disappointing certainly from a scone perspective.

I never went in the house as I've been in a few times before and you can't take pics..... I will say it is  well worth going in, I love the Burne Jones room. Anyway as the weather was stunning lets go around the gardens.

Now I know you are all thinking that these need a certain duck! However there was a sign saying no touching and so.......

The lake usually is a good spot for wildlife but little there today.

The scone is cheese, no fruit and plain only available as part of a cream tea. It isn't Quacks worthy (bit too doughy) but good cheese flavour!
