Yesterday was cloudy and miserable so my 2011 bird list didn't get off to a good start - frankly if my 2011 bird list reaches 150 it'll be a miracle but hey ho!
This morning I got up earlyish and left dad with a cup of tea by the side of his bed.
Nothing exciting. I headed off to the forest, the lake was still largely frozen over but there was at east enough water to attract Gadwall, Pochard and Tufties. It was all very quiet but I did get to see a Great Spotted Woody and Goldcrest.
Lots of Squirrels but they were playing hard to get!
This chap joined me when I had my cup of tea and sausage sarnie.
And then on to Rye Meads. The bittern was seen but not by me!
The best things I saw was a Reed Bunting, Green Woody and a Wigeon!
You don't often see Great Crested Grebe at Rye Meads but this chap was on the river.

Aw - that Robin's a little corker.. nice one Pete
That's a lovely robin picture, Pete and the teal is rather nice too. Sounds like you've seen more bird species than me so far this year :D
That little Robin is just too cute. I got a laugh out of the back on squirrel.
That Robin picture is better than many I have seen on postcards and calendars. Mind if I print it out and put on my desk? :)
J-feel free :D
