Lucca Day 2 - Walking the Walls

One of the joys of Lucca is that it has a complete set of medieval walls and that you can walk the walls.

The walls....

Throughout the city there was an exhibition of sculpture.

This is the Palazzo Pfanner of which more later

I popped off the walls for a coffee and wandered into the Basilica Minore di San Paolino which I have walked past a lot on previous trips but never been in.

And so back to the walls

The duomo.....

I wandered into the botanical garden.

When you are Lucca you see lots about Puccini but less about it's other two composers are less fated within the city...

Here is Luigi Boccherini composer and cellist.

The Torre Guinigi. It was the tower with trees on it that originally made me want to visit Lucca.

The Palazzo Pfanner. Some of the rooms are open but I just enjoyed sitting in the garden.

Lucca's third composer Francesco Geminiani who was also a noted violinist.

After a rather nice meal in a Michelin star restaurant ..... Here is the duomo.
