Clare Country Park

I took his nibs out today we headed out in the country to find a bag of spuds and then went on to Clare Country Park.

Clare Priory was dissolved at the time of the reformation. The medieval bit in use now was the Friars infirmary and was used as a barn at one time. When the priory was reestablished it became a parish church. Some time in the past 10 years a big extension has taken place and somehow it has lost a bit of ambience.

This was once the church..... now just an approach :(

Which do you prefer? Yes I know I know it may be needed but it lacks character.... call me old fashioned.

I would love to see the priory in its prime but it is interesting to see the ruins with the leaves etc.

Today

7:50 I had my haircut
9:00 Had the rear break light on the top of the hatchback repaired
10:30 Got my euros for the next holiday
10:40 picked up my new glasses (old ones couldn't be repaired
11:00 SHOCKINGLY bought some new T Shirts!!
12:00 As I was passing I had lunch with Dad.

It was raining as I left so I've had a duvet day.....

I'm out with Sir tomorrow so I'll post some photos. I do hope you aren't expecting anything exciting.... ;)

The Buzzard

When I got into birdwatching in 2002 there weren't many buzzards around this part of the world (Essex/Herts/London boarder). I saw my first in 2003 in Somerset and I remember sitting in an NT property amazed at the numbe of Buzzards in the sky.

A year later a local birder (who is also a church crawler) asked me if I had seen the "mythical" buzzard over the M25/M11. Well I hadn't but a few days later I emailed him to say I had seen one! As the years have gone on I've seen more and more and nowadays I see them regularly.

Any how last week as I drove to work I saw two say on telegraph poles as I drove to work and I'm now regularly seeing them.

The buzzard is definitely doing well here.
