Thaxted

I hadn't been to Thaxted for ages and despite the weather I headed off.

For the first time ever the long stay car park was full! So I had to  park in the short stay and got the last proper space. It was also free and gave me 4  hours which was plenty. 

This explains the active music scene, There isca classical music festival.

I don't think he ever lived here!

My love for the steeple is well documented.

The rain started to set in and the only cafe is closed for personal reasons for the foreseeable future, No idea how long it has been closed. Anyway I thought I ought to  spend some money as the car park was free. There is another shop that sells proper takeaway coffee so I bought one and a bacon roll from the bakery and had lunch I. Bury St Edmunds

I haven't been to Bury St Edmunds for 10 years so....

The Abbey Gardens and ruins....

So into the cathedral....

The cathedral was once a parish church and former chapel of theabbey.. Once it became a cathedral it got extended, a central and a makeover, St Mary's is the other former Chapel. It is, I think the more interesting building and there were more people in it!
