Audley End

The wind seems to have lost its chill and the sun shone, it was a lovely day so I headed for my first visit of the year to Audley End.

Ah snowdrops!

yeah yeah that tree again :)

I'm looking forward to seeing how this part of the garden develops.

No chickens yet......

this wheelbarrow changes with the seasons.

In the second world war Audley was requisitioned by the Special Operations Executive it was a base for the Cichociemni elite Polish special operations paratroops. This war memorial is for the 108 poles who died in the service.

And so with a bit of trepidation I went to the tearoom. As regular readers will know I'm not a big fan of English Heritage catering. I popped in and the scone looked the part so I bought one and ordered my cuppa. Now here is what I don't get, there were two staff serving and my tea was promptly served and the woman went to serve the next person but I had to wait for the other woman (who was on till duty) to make coffee's for someone else (one of those coffees that take a while to prepare). Why the woman who served me couldn't have taken my money is beyond me.....

Moan over! The scone was a little on the dry side but it was tasty and a good effort. Good enough that I'll have another ;)

A lovely afternoon!
