A visit to Rye Meads

I was meant to be out with his nibs today but he phoned me early to say he hadn't slept a wink and felt rough (he's fine now, spent the afternoon with him).

So at a loose end I went to Rye Meads. It was sunny but is it really May?? It felt a mite chilly!

There were Cetti's Warblers EVERYWHERE!! I even saw two! Also lots of Reed and Sedge Warblers.

Nice to see the Konik's back

The obligatory Little Grebe from the Draper hide..... the scrape is looking good alas the stupid Wood Sandpiper in the area had chosen Amwell ;)

Ooh Baby Canada Goose!

Nice to see a Sedge Warbler pose for a record shot.

Alas to Common Tern seen by me. Just LOADS AND LOADS of flipping Black Headed Gulls.....

Still have a cute Mallard chick !

I wasn't going into the Kingfisher hide when I saw all the long lenses poked out of the windows but there was no one in the disabled section so I went in quite happy to move if required and got rewarded......

I wandered up to the Timonthy Andrews Hide (or Warbler Hide as it now is) and was rather chuffed to hear the reel of a Gropper  (Grasshopper Warbler). As I trudged back I found......

I saw a Sparrowhawk and heard a cuckoo and lots of woodland Warblers..... Oh there were two sets of young Coots this one is from the newer brood....

A rather rewarding morning
