I commented a few days a go that I should have used a larger aperture on the shots of dad.
This was one of mine
My friend Twitchy likes to read manuals - madness I know - and she had a play and came up with this.
much less busy don't you agree? cheers Di. Must try larger apperture next time.

Lovely picture of your Dad. I would like to have your friend Twitchy here for a day to read manuals. Yes, she must be mad, LOL!
actually I rather like it better the first way because the environment adds a bit of interest to the shot but it isn't clear enough to distract one's eye. PS Your Dad is rather dishy.
Turquis
But it would have been better of course without the people sitting on Dad's shoulder. Edit in the camera of course.
Hi Anony Turquis - dad will ask where your glasses are :D
hi anony who isn't Turquis! yes you are right. hey ho

If you don't like the effect too blurred, you can bring back some of the detail if you want. It was just a quick exercise to show Pete what can be done. Of course the correct use of aperture to get your desired depth of field is always preferable, but sometimes you can't do this, depending on the light. The first photo would certainly be OK if it wasn't for the people on the bench.
