As reguar readers will know I am not by nature a twitcher. Indeed my total number of solo twitches this year is two and both of those were within 7 miles of home!!
This morning I awoke and was unsure what to do. No this was untrue I knew what I wanted to do, for the past month there have been Serin reported at Rainham Marshes. I have never seen a Serin before and so as Rainham is fairly local ......
I arrived to find a grey grey day. The Serin had been seen a long a 2 mile stretch by the side of the Thames. This stretch started from the feeders by the VERY UGLY visitors centre.
Could I get that lucky? No of course not although there was a very streaky Greenfinch. So off I toddled, lots of ducks and geese. Then as I strolled along Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Serin, hey you what ? yep Serin!! ooh very nice. There were also Meadow and 2 Water Pipits (very Grey birds classic Water Pipits) Stonechats. All very nice. Apparently there were Lesser Redpoll and a Dartford Warbler about but I missed thouse.
It started to drizzle and the weather was awful for photos so I wandered back to the car park quite contented.
