When I woke up this morning I found myself driving through thick fog.
I arrived at 716 St Peter & St Paul, Church Hanborough
As you can see it was still foggy.
I then went to Hailes, the undedicated parish church is all that remains of the village. As you can see it is simple and little altered and contains some wall paintings.
The village was moved to make way for Richard, Earl of Cornwall’s abbey.
The abbey is long dissolved but today you can view the ruins and the museum. I’ve been here before, my previous visit was on a cold day in early spring, I listened to the excellent audio guide and when the guide discussed the black death the wind blew on the tape as well as in real life. When I reached the shop the staff were amazed I stayed out so long.. Today the sun beat down and it was glorious.
I then went to Hidcote Manor garden a glorious Cotswold Garden.
This chap joined me for my afternoon cuppa and chocky cake.
