Check your Bank Statement

I got my bank statement yesterday. I never check it in detail but I do "sanity check" it. This is normally very quick since its the same old same old.

So you can imagine my surprise when I found an item I didn't recognise. The amount was minimal but I phoned my bank who could find no reference to this DD. They said they would investigate. I did a quick search on the net and found that this might be a magazine, I phoned back (and got the same person) and asked if the same amount was taken out in July. It was !! but to a different name (which I did recognize). Its a magazine subscription. This is handy since I can now kill the magazine and save £10.20 per quarter.

And as Tesco's say "every little helps"

TV Star

I'm a star, I'm a star
A lamé suit and a new guitar

well ok I'm exaggerating a tadge. When we were at Welney yesterday Anglia TV were filming. Trish and I managed to avoid being intereviewed. Dad however has just told me that you can see me in one of the long shots.

Ye gods I'm pleased I avoided being interviewed.

Autumnwatch

Ah well I'm back. I missed the snow that appeared Tuesday night, first time its snowed in London in October for 70 years apparently!

I missed Autumnwatch on Monday but I've quite enjoyed it Tuesday and Wednesday. Bill is much quieter which helps (Bill if you read this (unlikely I know), go watch Birding with Bill Oddie and Bill Oddie goes wild. And can we have more of this please! Less humour more of the Bill who obviously loves wildlife with a passion).

I have to say I'm not a fan of the Autumn/Spring watch format. Simon King always does the same thing. Not more flipping Deer!! I would have thought that a series of pre-recorded shows can do it much better. I don't know how about a half hour programme all about the Red Squirrels on Brownsea, Bill shows us Norfolk in October that sort of thing. You could get John Aitcheson, Chris Packham, Gordon Buchanan to do a programme each on the different aspects of Autumn. Along the lines of the programmes made for the old Wildlife on One series. As it is it all fills a bit disjointed and samey.

A Festival of Swans

So its homeward bound.

I had promised Trish a Tree Sparrow and so a Tree Sparrow we had to find we headed to the RSPB Ouse Washes reserve at Manea. Not that difficult really.

And so on to the WWT reserve at Welney. And lots of Whooper Swans with the odd Mute. (There were a few Bewick's but they were too distant, I may go back when the morning Swan feeding starts).

And something else

And we went to Norwich. Norwich has many fine churches and one I still need to tick, alas I already knew that would be closed.

So the MAGNIFICENT Cathedral.

An oc moment, see how many she finds!

And so across the short walk to St Peter Mancroft

And another short walk to the Victorian Roman Catholic Cathedral

Well with that done we headed to Salthouse. No Snow Buntings but Turnstones

We then went on to Holkham. A female Stonechat

But we were after this cracker.

There were three Short Eared Owls
