Fenton House

Before the phone call yesterday.......

I had planned to wander to London to visit Fenton House It is one of those National Trust properties I have inexplicably never visited! It hammered down as I drove to the station and I almost turned back.

Fenton is a "small" 17th century merchants house in Hampstead one of the more affluent and leafy parts of the capital.

Lady Binning bought the house in 1936 and filled it with her highly decorative collections of porcelain, Georgian furniture and 17th-century needlework. It also has a collection of earlier keyboard instruments and of early 20th-century drawings and paintings.

The approach ......

Now let our tour commence....

I won't claim that Fenton is a property that should be your first choice in visiting London but it still worth a visit even more so for its y garden. The garden was lovely and if I lived locally (or it was a few miles down the road from me) I would spend a happy afternoon every so often reading my book......

A company called Tangerine Dream (not NT) are operating a pop-up café from their retro-fitted Citroen van, which serves tea, coffee, cakes and a selection of light goodies inspired by the seasonally changing garden.

The cakes looked good but of course I didn't indulge and the National Trust Scone Blogger will be disappointed to know that there were no scones.... still I'd say visit and eat cake! I had a cup of tea.

And then home and..........
