Well and where to? Off we went to Lavenham and Long Melford, I've been there many times but I knew Diane and Trish wouldn't have. Of course you've seen both places many times but that doesn't stop me overwhelming you with pics does it :D
We went for a mid morning Tea/Coffee and Scone. Munnings is a very old fashioned tea shop, you wouldn't be surprised to see Miss Marple at the next table.
A Teapot in one of the shops.
Off to the Church of St Peter and St Paul
When we came out of the church it was raining so we headed to Long Melford and its magnificent church of the Holy Trinity. Much of the glass is medieval the first is supposedly the inspiration for the original drawing of the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland.
I think this is William Cordwell whose family owned Melford Hall.
The Clopton family built nearby Kentwell Hall. They have a chapel here.
The other family of Melford were the Martyn's they lived at Melford Place which has long gone.
And off to the separate Lady Chapel (VERY unusual to find a separate one attached to a parish church).
When we went outside the rain had gone and the skies were a glorious colour.
We were too late for lunch so went into another tea room and I had tea and a toasted tea cake.
A nice couple of days in good company. And yes I have overdone it with the pics!!
