Quick bit of birding amongst the Rain

I awoke at 5:40 (well actually i had forgotten to turn off the alarm). I went to the loo (you wanted to know didn't you ;) ) and then looked out the window. Rain. So I just went back to bed. Woke up at 8:15, rain. Surfed the net for an hour or so and then got up at 9:30.

The rain had abated so I popped down Amwell Gravel pits. Common Terns wer back and then were swifts, House and Sand Martin oh also Common Whitethroat and a couple of Plovers.

I then sat in the hide. Had to do a fair bit of lightening these. Light was awful.

Tufteds always seem a bt lazy. They do a bit of diving and then just 'chill' for the rest of the day.
Great life eh?

Judging by the pictures I'd say you had a great day. Love the squirrel.

Some really great photos there, especially like the Woodie. At least you still got out even if it was raining.

Hi Pete - I like the Great Spotted Woodpecker bird and the tufted ducks. That is a nice feeding station they have there - a good place to get all those photos. We just have individual backyard feeding stations here. Today I saw my first Tanager,Caspian Tern and Purple Martins.

was too dark. had to brighten them too much I think.

Oceans. Thought you would appreciate Mr & Mrs Tufty. Many nature reserves will have a feeding station. Its usually by the visitors centre.

Amwell doesn't have a visitors centre but someome obviously tops them up.
