Earliest Abbotsbury Cygnet since records began

Apparently the first Cygnet has been born at the Abbotsbury Swanery in Dorset and it is the earliest Cygnet born at the colony since records began in 1393.

Abbotsbury Swannery is the only managed colony of nesting mute swans in the world. The Benedictine monks used to farm the swans but there was a colony of 1000 swans living there when the monks arrived in the 11th Century.

Mute Swans normally belong to the Queen but the Abbotsbury birds don't belong to the Queen but instead belong to the Ilchester Estate.
