A Twitch

I actually twitched today. Ok it wasn't very far about 8 miles or so. The bird in question was a Red Footed Falcon and I had never seen one. It was sat in a tree and I could see its tail great! I thought walking along would help but it was well hidden. Walking 50 yards the other way it came into view.

So that's a lifer before breakfast! Oh a few photos.

So after lunch I went to Rye Meads. Lots of young birds, a Hobby, Redshank, Lapwings and just for St the famed tame Heron



You can see where it was standing.



These are young Mallard but I was pleased to see young Pochard about and a Little Grebe was nesting on a Tern raft.





These were a bit agressive.

Oh the Heron had moved by the time I came back, he had moved along way eh!

Oh Rats

Sir was up early so we left after breakfast.

I've managed to cut the grass before it rained.

For some reason Firefox won't work, it just hangs. I wonder if this was due to some updates to McAfee? I've deleted it reinstalled it and nowt. I checked McAfee and it is authorised to the net. Rats. IE works but fine but I've now downloaded Opera.

Hope the photos are ok. I only took the Tamron 18-250 travel lens, I would have liked others BUT I have to be realistic I was never going to keep changing lenses with Dad about.

Steven Saylor - The House of the Vestals - **1/2 ok short story collection. the novels are much better

Next holiday is Devon and Cornwall in a month. Ah I do like this time of year!

Friday

It rained this morning, if you have small children you’ll know how difficult it is to amuse them. I had my dad



He doesn’t like rain :D

We went to East Dereham, another small market town.

So where then? We went back to Blickling as we could look around the hall. On Sunday the weather was so hot we just did the gardens.

Anyway a quick tour of the adjacent church.













After lunch we went to the hall which is well worth a visit.

When we got home I looked around the village Church.

Thursday

We went to Fakenham first. It was market day and Dad loves markets. Please don’t ask me why!




We popped into St Peter’s and St Paul’s. It was Christian aid week and the church had a bric a brac sale on and was selling tea’s and coffee’s. So we had one.








On to Houghton Hall. It was built by Britain’s first Prime Minister Robert Walpole. You only see the state rooms but these are amazing. The walled garden is pretty good as well.














St Mary’s church pre-dates the hall, Walpole moved the village so it didn’t spoil his view but kept God’s acre in place.












All week the weather was meant to turn today. It may have done dahn sarf but it has been lovely today in North Norfolk
