So today we headed to the small city of Vicenza. For those who don't know it is famed for its many examples of buildings by the architect Antonio Palladio and is home to the final building he designed (completed after his death) the Teatro Olimpico (the oldest renaissance theatre still used).
The Duomo.
It is Palm Sunday
The Loggia del Capitano
Antonio Palladio
The Basilica that dominates the main piazza.
So off to the Teatro Olimpica. It is the oldest renaissance theatre still in use and it is worth going to the city to see this alone.
This little dog was not on lead but his owner was nearby. He just wandered around and did his own thing we saw him a few times.
Santa Corona
We went for a walk. The main bridge was closed for repair....
We stopped on the main square where we shared a plate of Italian meats and cheeses and a glass of bubbles!
You may wonder about this pic.... Italian's just don't do parks! A nice statue with a bunch of rubbish bins in front of it!
Vicenza is worth visiting for the Teatro Olimpica and Santa Corona. There are some lovely buildings but personally I go for Padova if you can only do one.
