Suffolk on a drab Saturday

I awoke to a damp dismal start. 

We ended up at Lavenham, I didn't take many photos as you've seen it many times before.  We lunched in the National Trusts Guildhall, it was soup weather and we were obliged with a very tasty Vegetable soup.

Although not religious I often light a candle for Mum.....

I had noticed that it was the day of the Suffolk Church bike ride (charity event) so I surmised that All Saints Acton would be open.

The Jennens memorial. This is to Robert Jennens. His son William was a miser and at his death was the richest commoner in England with the estate generating income of over £40,000 a year and was reputedly worth £1.1 million (which we worth approximately £250 million today).  He died intestate and the subsequent legal proceedings took over 100 years and exhausted the estate. The case is said to have inspired a similar case in Dicken's Bleak House

We wandered to Melford Hall and bypassed the trusts offer of guides etc and headed to the cafe.....
