Dyrham Park

I considered going to Bath today but a bit of research showed that car parking would cost £5.40 for 4 hours and I decided that I would rather spend this on cake :) So instead I went to Dyrham Park.

I actually went there last year with Dad but I do like the place and I fancied a restful day oh and it has a nice display of tulips...

As I arrived the heaven's opened but it soon cleared up and off I went.

The garden has changed over the years.

The attached church.

So into the house.... anyone remember my educating Trisha post? well this is a Hogarth Trish... I am so dead.....

A reference for a servant!

Delft tiles...

And so to lunch. The chap asked me what I wanted to drink placed it by the till and wandered off not mentioning food.... I asked the chap at the till for Tomato & Basil soup and a slice of Coffee & Walnut cake and he disappeared..... most odd. I overhead the couple at the next table commented they had no system. Still my soup was lovely and the cake was nice as well. I might add I was a tadge miffed that they removed the last slice of the Perry Pear and Walnut cake I had my eye on the CHEEK of it!!

By now the sun was shining and I thought I'd like to sit and read but of course the seats were all wet from the downpour. You'd think the NT would dry them wouldn't you? :) And you no what one was dry!! No idea HOW it was but hey....

The view from my seat...

Another shower came across so I adjourned to the Orangery....

The rain abated and so I went for my afternoon cuppa ...... cake was Lemon sponge - tasty I might add.

So there you go a very nice day.

  2. Glad you had a good day. Lovely to see all the Spring flowers - great photos again. The reference for the servant was brilliant - LOL! Love the fallow deer and I really like the view of the house across the parkland in the first photo. Yet another place I would like to visit!
